Northwestern Girl

Long time no see!
I know it's been a while but let me tell ya, this being a student thing is time consuming.

Let me preface this post by telling you how much I adore traveling. I'm the kind of girl that can live in my car if I have to so I can see new places. Give me a plane ticket anywhere and I'll figure the rest out later. My husband on the other hand isn't, bless his heart. So we have to find a middle ground.

Our vacations so far have included our honeymoon to Disneyland, Ensenada, and Lake Powell with the family.

Disneyland

Did I mention I had a broken foot for my wedding and honeymoon? The upside was we got to skip the lines because we I got a wheel chair.

Ensenada

Ensenada and I have a love hate relationship. Yes, it was beautiful, and yes those were the best fish tacos I have ever had, but it was 60 degrees and partly raining there when I was expecting to be in my swim suit the whole time. Bummer.

Lake Powell

Oh, Lake Powell. This was pretty much Forrest and I's second honeymoon since we got to go three months after we had our first. It is incredible! I look like the little Puerto Rican girl I truly am because for a straight week we got to worship the sun.

Lets just say I love all of those things, but I'm a Northwestern girl, and I miss trees, rain, and the Puget sound. So for our spring break this year we decided to head up to the great North West! Forrest served his mission in Tacoma, Washington, which meant that he never got to go and see Seattle. We went briefly to Seattle when he met my family before we got married, but only a days worth. I also adore Portland and had not been there in a while, nor had Forrest ever been, so it seemed like the perfect option.

First came

Portland

It was a pretty low key day in the Rose City. First we got Voodoo Donuts, which was worth all of the hype it had been getting. We then went to the water front and walked across the Burnside bridge to see the Burnside skate park. Forrest enjoyed this because of his Tony Hawk skateboarding game playing days. (Apparently it's famous) After that we headed to the Aerial Tram. We thought it was going to be this super cool lift that took us across the city, but really it just went up to the hospital. It was a beautiful view, but we immediately rode back down since we had no interest in checking out the hospital. We ended our day with doing some window shopping and eating at a cute Mexican restaurant. When we finished eating we came outside and it was raining. Everyone was disappointing but us, because I adore when it rains while the sun is still shining.

Then came

Seattle

We were true tourists for those few days. We went to the gum wall at the Pike Place Market, as well as the Underground Seattle Tour. If you want to learn a thing or two about what the Emerald City was like back in the day I would highly recommend it. We also headed a little bit North of down town and went to see the Freemont troll. One of these days I will hit up all of the landmarks included in 10 Things I Hate About You. Then on our second day we took it easy and took the Kingston ferry over to Silverdale area and hit up the mall there for kicks. Forrest got to spend time there while he was on his mission so we appeased him by driving around and reliving the past with him.

Like I said, I'm a traveler, and I love Arizona (I've become adjusted to the climate) but I'm truly a Northwestern girl.

After all, look at those Cascade Mountains. They are truly to die for.
Washington State, you will always have my heart.
